Arboretum

Ottawa has many parks that are not on the main tourist circuit, but that are ideal for walking. This scene is at the Arboretum by the Experimental Farm, across the canal from Carleton University. Here you can find varieties of trees you never imagined could grow in this climate. They are especially beautiful at blossom time. This spot is also one of the few in the city where dog owners can let their dogs exercise off leash. Unlike some other cities, Ottawa does not have formal off-leash parks, but it seems to be tolerated here. Dog haters, beware!
