Ottawa offers accommodation for all budgets, from the
Chateau Laurier and others at the high end down to this
interesting budget alternative -- the former Nicholas
Street Jail, which is now a youth hostel. A converted
jail cell is not everyone's idea of a good place to stay,
but it's a building with a history. Ottawa does not offer
the range of budget motel accommodation that some other
cities provide, but cost-conscious travellers can often
find an affordable bed and breakfast. Mid- to high-end
accommodation is more plentiful, but can be full in the
summer tourist season and during major conventions. ©
